Getting Started

1. Activate your Care Card and create a PIN

All adult members on the policy 18 years of age and older receive a Care Card from your employer with instructions on how to activate the card and set a PIN.

Option 1: Activate through the UHC Global app

• Open the UHC Global app on your mobile device 
• Select ‘Activate Card’
• Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your card

Once activation is complete, your default PIN will be displayed in a pop-up message within the app. If you would like to create a custom PIN call +1 501.218.8120 (outside the U.S.) or  +1 866.898.9795 (toll-free in the U.S.).

Option 2: Activate by phone

• Call +1 501.218.8120 (outside the U.S.) or +1 866.898.9795 (toll-free in the U.S.)
• Enter the 16 digits account number on the front of your Care Card
• Enter last 4 digits of your member ID found on your UnitedHealth Global ID card
• Enter 3 digit CVV code on back of your Care Card
• Create a custom PIN   

2. Use your card and collect documentation

Start using your Care Card to pay for qualified medical expenses (not including dental or vision expenses) and services.²

• Collect a receipt (how much you paid) and itemized invoice (what you paid for)
• There are select countries where the card is not activated³

3. Provide documentation within 30 days

You’ll be notified by email when to sign in to the UHC Global app to submit your supporting documentation. 

• Select ‘View Transactions’ to see transactions needing your attention
• Enter information about the services you received
• Upload your receipt and invoice. You will receive a confirmation number that your submission was received

If you fail to upload documentation within 30 days of the transaction date, your card will be suspended until you upload the proper documentation. Once submitted, your card will be reinstated.
